Kaiser Permanente medical centers in Sacramento and Roseville have received environmental excellence awards from Practice Greenhealth, a national nonprofit organization devoted to environmentally responsible operations and health care.

The Kaiser centers in south Sacramento and Roseville received the Reston, Va.-based group’s “Emerald Partner for Change” award. Sacramento Medical Center received a “Greenhealth Partner for Change” award.

The awards were determined by a scoring system with 10 categories related to reducing a facility’s environmental footprint and fostering sustainability. The “Partner for Change” award recognized the Sacramento Medical Center’s efforts to improve its environmental performance and sustainability practices.

Area Kaiser outpatient clinics also were recognized. The Eye Surgery Center in Rancho Cordova, Ambulatory Surgery Unit in Folsom and Folsom Medical Offices each received a “Partner Recognition” award, given to health care facilities that are making environmental improvements and have at least a 10 percent recycling rate for waste.
