More hot weather coming for Sacramento

More hot weather is in store for the Sacramento region.

High temperatures for today and Sunday will hit 93 degrees, which is above average for this time of year, according to the National Weather Service.

“We’re going to creep up on the temperatures through Tuesday to 97 degrees,” said Karl Swanberg, a forecaster with the weather service. “The average high this time of year is about 89 degrees.”

Swanberg said the heat is the result of Pacific high pressure building over the region.

Here’s the seven-day forecast:

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. South southwest wind around 7 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. South southwest wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 93. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 59. Southwest wind around 7 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 94. South wind around 6 mph.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 59.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.
