Re "Rocklin schools ordered to rehire laid-off nurses" (The Public Eye, June 22): I applaud the Rocklin school nurses Jennifer Hammond, Genevieve Sherman, Susan Firchau and Jennifer Bradley for standing firm against school administrators who showed little respect for them as nurses and for the nursing profession in general.
Requesting a registered nurse to teach a bus driver to suction a student's trachea tube showed ignorance about safety and what it takes to be licensed as an RN. Would they ask the principal to teach the janitor how to administer the school? Thankfully these nurses may choose to return to their jobs with back pay.
