The Editorial Board of The Bee has consistently supported the bullet train to nowhere at a cost of billions of dollars that could be better spent elsewhere such as on the myriad unfunded liabilities like retiree health care that are still to be dealt with.
At the same time, the front page of the Bee has exposed the faulty construction and falsified test reports that have plagued the new Bay Bridge since its inception. The Bee is making a very good case that all we have for the billions spent on that bridge is a good looking bridge that is probably no more safe in an earthquake than the one it replaced. In fact, maybe it's not even as good as the one it replaced.
Yet the Editorial Board supports these clowns building high-speed rail? It begs the question: does the Board read its own paper?
