Best of show wines announced from California State Fair

Published: Tuesday, Jun. 24, 2014 - 3:21 pm

The judges at the California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition considered a whopping 2,829 wine entries from June 4 through June 6. And now, we know who earned “best of show” honors.

A total of 2,068 medals were awarded, including 52 double gold, 217 gold, 1,085 silver and 714 bronze. That’s to say 73 percent of the entered wines earned a medal of some sort.

The top awards were announced today on the steps of the State Capitol, and these “best of California” and “best of region” wines can be sampled at the State Fair during its run from July 11 - July 27.

Look for a searchable database of winning State Fair wines soon.
