Ask Sacto 911 crime Q&A: Was anyone convicted of 2013 burglaries at midtown art gallery?

Was there a conviction in connection with the May 2013 robbery of a sculpture and other art works from Barton Art Gallery in midtown Sacramento? Internet news reports say Gregory Knecht was arrested, but I found no further information.

Gregory Musso Knecht was arrested in connection with a rash of midtown Sacramento business burglaries, including three during a single week at the Barton Gallery at 1723 I St.

Police initially linked Knecht to four business burglaries between May 4 and May 10, 2013. According to stories in The Bee, detectives armed with a warrant searched Knecht’s residence in the 1500 block of J Street and found property that had been stolen in several recent burglaries.

The owner of Barton Gallery closed the gallery due to the burglaries in which an estimated $10,000 in artwork was stolen.

In their search of Knecht’s residence, police also reported finding additional stolen property taken during burglaries of a closed business in the 800 block of 57th Street.

According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, Knecht in January entered pleas in two cases. He pleaded no contest to three counts of second-degree burglary in one case and was sentenced to 245 days in jail. In the other case, he pleaded no contest to one count of second-degree burglary and was sentenced to 120 days in jail.
