Published: Wednesday, Jun. 25, 2014 - 11:41 am

When the newly renovated Denny’s in Orangevale reopens at 9 a.m. Thursday, the first 100 diners through the door will receive free Original Grand Slam breakfasts.

The nearby Citrus Heights franchise at 6215 Sunrise Blvd. will offer the same reward, and additional prizes will be given away at both restaurants throughout the day.

The Orangevale Denny’s, at 8841 Greenback Lane, was closed to undergo remodeling as part of the chain’s “New Heritage” brand re-imaging campaign. The remodeled restaurant will feature locally inspired design and new menu items, according to the diner chain.

Nationwide, 70 percent of Denny’s restaurants will be renovated by 2018.

The Original Grand Slam includes bacon, sausage, eggs and pancakes and ordinarily costs $6.99.

Starting at noon, the first 25 lunch customers at each location will receive a free burger and fries. The first 25 dinner guests will get a free entrée, starting at 6 p.m.
