Re "Citrus Heights petition fights city hall removal" (Our Region, June 26): The new city hall meetings have been orchestrated to a relocation project for what appears as the city manager's goal of getting a new city hall on a previously purchased, remote, residentially zoned site.

The claimed monetary saving is a mirage, recovered over 15 years. It requires the city to initially spend $16.3 from its small reserve fund, with an additional $1.5 million from infrastructure funds to pay for the $18 million new city hall.

The City Council is apparently going along with this charade. How soon we forget. Citrus Heights became a city because of Sacramento County's lack of response to its people. The original City Council understood, and created the Civic Center as a point of civic pride. Sadly they are gone. The new City Council is destroying it, acting just like Sacramento County.

Bureaucratic arrogance has returned.
