A high pressure system building across the state will push temperatures in Sacramento into triple-digit territory by Monday.
The National Weather Service is predicting a high temperature Saturday of 91 degrees with an expected jump to 98 degrees on Sunday and 104 degrees on Monday.
“We’re looking at a fairly rapid warm-up starting in the weekend and continuing into next week,” said weather service forecaster Karl Swanberg. “Peak of the heat looks to be Monday. It is above average, but certainly not unusual.”
Here’s the seven-day forecast:
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 91. South southwest wind around 8 mph.
Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 61. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph becoming south southeast after midnight.
Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. South southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.
Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 66. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming south after midnight.
Monday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 104. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 66.
Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102.
Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 63.
Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97.
Wednesday night: Clear, with a low around 62.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 92.
Thursday night: Clear, with a low around 61.
Independence Day: Sunny, with a high near 93.
