Couches are sacred places

Re "The next lobbyist battle over 'toxic' flame retardants" (Forum, June 22): Thanks for covering the idea of labeling toxics as toxic. We all know gasoline and other solvents are toxic, and we don't allow our children to bath in them. But couches? We need expert help.

Our lives center around our couches. A favorite family photo shows my older brother and I peering over the back of the couch at our newly arrived baby brother, lying on the couch. If we all had been born 30 years later, it appalls me to realize he would be lying on toxics.

Yes, we need warning labels.
