Highs in the Sacramento area are expected to reach 95 degrees today and that type of heat will stay around for the rest of the week.

Conditions are expected to be clear, calm and dry through Independence Day.

Today’s high is 3 degrees above average for this time of year, a dramatic departure from Monday’s near-record heat.

Through the weekend, the National Weather Service expects Sacramento will see temperatures rise back into three-digit territory. Saturday and Sunday’s highs are expected to hover around 100, and Monday’s high is forecast to be 101 as high pressure from the Desert Southwest drifts into the region.
