U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui announced Wednesday that California Capital Financial Development Corp., the Sacramento-based nonprofit that provides loans, classes and mentoring to small-business owners throughout Northern California, has been designated as a federal Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

The designation will provide federal funds to California Capital, allowing it to provide training, counseling and resources for businesses to help them expand and pursue local, state and federal government contracts.

California Capital also has a designation as a Community Development Financial Institution with the U.S. Department of Treasury, enabling it to help Northern California’s disadvantaged small businesses through loans and other services.

“Doing business with the government represents a tremendous opportunity and California Capital looks forward to offering in-person counseling and training services to local small business owners,” said Clarence Williams, president of California Capital, in a statement.
