After providing its rationale and accepting comments regarding requirements for submitting Letters to the Editor, the Bee has implemented its policy. One of the new policies eliminated the anonymous nature of past submittals and names of authors are now provided with letters that are published. It seems that this policy has reduced in a positive manner the number of letters that unnecessarily attacked commenters whose position may not have been well received. Furthermore, for those who might scan the Letter Section frequently, we now know whose opinions merit admiration as opposed to the poorly based rants that are still published in fairness to the spectrum of Bee subscribers. One hopes that those who deserve respect will continue to share and emphasize factual content and not rely on unsupported innuendo or negativity.
