A crew working with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection climbs toward the front line of the Monticello fire. The blaze west of Winters went from 1,500 acres burned on Friday to 5,000 acres on Saturday and was 30 percent contained. It started near the Monticello Dam at the south end of Lake Berryessa. Cal Fire was moving crews and gear from the Butts fire, which burned 4,300 acres northwest of the lake and was reported 75 percent contained Saturday night.
