Beware of Jamaican sweepstakes

I would like to issue a heightened awareness for everybody, but particularly senior citizens.

I realize as people get older, they realize that they don't have as much money as they had hoped for. Therefore, they may fall prey to unscrupulous scam artists who promise a huge sweepstakes reward if only certain fees are paid out. Unfortunately, people are robbed of a good portion, if not all, of their retirement savings.

Many scammers operate out of Jamaica with 876 exchanges. This has been prevalent for years which leads me to the conclusion that the Jamaican government and police are either inept or corrupt.

Therefore, if you get a promise of winnings over the telephone. politely tell the caller to fly a kite and never call your number again. Best regards and keep your money.
