Player of the match: Republic FC midfielder Rodrigo Lopez had several corners and crosses that should have been converted, one cross sailing past two surprised Republic FC players near the 10-yard line. Because of a yellow card issued to Lopez in the 87th minute Monday, he’ll have to sit out the next game because he was on warning for getting a yellow against OKC Energy FC June 28.

Goal of the match: Republic FC midfielder Octavio Guzman gathered a loose ball approximately 25 yards out in the third minute of stoppage time and hammered a low laser between two diving Orange County Blues FC defenders. Blues goalie Patrick McLain didn’t see the shot until it was too late, and the ball ruffled the net on the right side.

Up next: Sacramento travels to the East Coast for a game Saturday at the Richmond Kickers, who are in second place in the USL Pro. Republic FC plays at the Charlotte Eagles on July 14, then returns to Bonney Field on July 17 for five games in 10 days, including friendlies against Rangers FC and West Bromwich Albion of the English Premier League.
