Re David Halley's letter (Letters, July 10): I couldn't tell whether David Halley's letter was for real or if he was just trying to be funny. He was the one who said "If you work hard, you too can become wealthy." Does he not know what is going on in this country? The salaries of the super rich has skyrocketed in the past 20 years while the wages of the average worker, even working two jobs, has remained stagnant.

He said "If the company does well, they make money." That is true, but he didn't add "but they never share that wealth with their employees."

Contrary to what he said, the vast majority of people in this country do not have the opportunities to advance and acquire wealth.

The middle class is disappearing before our eyes. Wake up, Mr. Halley, and smell the coffee.
