Australia’s Olivia Rogowska displayed tenacity early, then dominance later to win the FSP Gold Challenger singles title at the Gold River Racquet Club on Saturday with a straight-set victory over Santa Monica’s Julie Boserup.

The top-seeded Rogowska held off two set points in the second set, and then won the final three games in her 6-2, 7-5 victory over Boserup.

Rogowska had overcome opening-set losses in her two previous matches in the tournament. Boserup had not lost a set through the semifinals.

In the doubles final, Russia’s Daria Gavrilova and Storm Sanders of Australia, who did not lose a set in the USTA Pro Circuit tournament, defeated USC grad Maria Sanchez and current Trojan Zoe Scandalis 6-2, 6-1.

Sanders won last year’s doubles championship with Britain’s Naomi Broady.
