• Slawsa

$3.99 for 16-ounce jar; Cost Plus WorldMarket stores or online at

A tasty new topper, Slawsa is a combination of several veggies and mustard. Essentially, it’s a cabbage-based relish with a salsa twist. Wonderful on bratwurst, Slawsa makes dressing dogs or burgers a snap and adds extra zip to turkey burgers or grilled chicken, too. Slawsa comes in three flavors: original, spicy and garlic. Developed by North Carolina entrepreneur Julie Busha from a family recipe, the condiment was featured last fall on ABC’s “Shark Tank.” Since then, it’s gone nationwide. • Marysville Peach Festival

Free; 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday;

Marysville’s 15th annual ode to the fuzzy stone fruit kicks off Friday with peaches done just about every way you can imagine – smoothies, ice cream, cakes, turnovers, dumplings and more. A quaint little street fair perfect for an afternoon visit, the event has children’s rides and craft booths to entertain the whole family. The fair is located on D Street between First and Sixth streets in downtown Marysville.

• Bike Dog Brewing Co.’s Cali Pils

2534 Industrial Blvd. #110, West Sacramento,

Drop by West Sacramento’s Bike Dog Brewery to taste the craft brewer’s first lager. Called Cali Pils (that’s short for pilsner), it should pair nicely with the dog days of summer. Here’s a description of the beer, which premiered Saturday, from AJ Tendick, Bike Dog’s co-founder: “It’s a Bohemian Pilsner that has been dry-hopped with both U.S. and German hops, making it why we are calling it a Cali Pils. It’s a crystal clear, very pale, gold-colored beer with a light hop aroma and distinct light grainy character from the pilsner malt that finishes crisp and clean.” Bike Dog’s hours are 5-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 2-9 p.m. Saturday.

• Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bar

Available at supermarkets and convenience stores;

Returning in what has become a yummy tradition, the folks at Nestle Crunch have partnered with the Girl Scouts of America in their joint “reinvention” of the classic Girl Scout cookie. The result is the limited-edition Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bar, in three flavors – dark chocolate-covered Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Creme and Caramel & Coconut. They’re available in two sizes “wherever candy bars are sold,” through August. Sales will benefit the Girl Scouts in a special campaign called “Let’s Get Her to Camp,” which “will help make it possible for hundreds of girls from around the country to attend summer camp.”

• Cocktail Crate Sriracha Margarita Craft Mixer

Summertime calls for margaritas, and here’s a spicy twist on what’s considered the most common cocktail in the United States. Don’t worry about squeezing fresh limes or sourcing agave nectar. This ready-to-use mixer contains all the citrus and sweeteners needed, but also infuses a bit of Sriracha and other ingredients for a touch of heat. The result mixes sweet-and-spicy flavors that work especially well with the traditional pepper-y notes found in the “lowlands” tequilas of Jalisco, Mexico. Just add one part mixer to one part tequila, pair with some fresh carne asada coming off the grill, and you’re good to go.
