Authorities say a fire tore through a chrome-plating facility in Hollywood, sending a giant plume of black smoke into the air and one firefighter to the hospital.

Los Angeles Fire spokeswoman Katherine Main said more than 100 firefighters battled the blaze for more than two hours Sunday morning at an industrial building on N. Orange Ave. in Hollywood.

Main says the building's roof partially collapsed, but no firefighters were injured. She says one firefighter fell ill and was sent to the hospital but is in good condition.

Main says no one else was believed to be at the building at the time. She says some nearby businesses were affected by the smoke but the fire did not reach them.

She says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
