Cheers or profanity at Republic matches?

Re "Chant can be a slur or problem" (Our Region, July 13): Marcos Breton brings up a good point about how words are taken differently by different people. I did not hear the word he described, but I did hear another word. Specifically, the dreaded F-bomb, cheered enthusiastically by the Tower Bridge Battalion. This cheer used the word several times during the chant, and it was repeated again in the second half.

I'm no saint when it comes to blue language, but in the context of a Republic FC game with so many young children running around, is it really necessary? The TBB has some witty and good cheers. Do we really need the profanity?
