Third suspect arrested in Hookah Lounge shooting

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department arrested a third suspect Wednesday in the shooting that killed a 20-year-old Sacramento man and wounded four others in the parking lot of a strip mall on Fulton Avenue.

James Wallace, 28, was arrested in connection with the murder of Tyrell Hall, 20, who was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound following the Sunday morning shooting.

Frank Jackson, 19, and Tana Dania, 23, were arrested Tuesday and face charges for homicide and attempted homicide.

Homicide detectives said that Wallace played a key role in the incident, according to the news release. The release did not specify what part Wallace played in the incident.

The shooting occurred around 1:00 a.m., where around 50 to 100 people had gathered in front of the Hookah Lounge. Investigators determined that a prior altercation between two large groups in the parking lot may have instigated the gunfire.

Detectives retrieved an unspecified number of handguns from the scene, said Scott Swisher, homicide detective for the Sacramento Police Department. Dozens of shots were reportedly fired and dried blood trails were visible on the patios and sidewalks of neighboring business along the strip mall.

It’s unclear whether Hall was a bystander in the second altercation, which resulted in the gunfire and his death, said Swisher.

A brawl ensued in front of the Sacramento County Jail Tuesday afternoon following the arraignments of Dania and Jackson. Hall’s sister, Adrienne Platt, said that the fight broke out because of a heated misunderstanding between her family and the family of one of the suspects.

A motive for the shooting hasn’t been determined and detectives are seeking information from the public regarding both the shooting and the homicide. Tips can be left at (916) 874-8477.
