Water conservation: punitive politics

Published: Thursday, Jul. 17, 2014 - 2:07 pm

Re "$500-a-day water waste fine OK'd" (Page A1, July 16): In the middle of a severe drought, the best solutions our feckless Legislature and tone-deaf governor can propose are punitive and/or serve the needs of a select few?

From the twin tunnels that would divert water away from our area to proposing onerous fines to property owners, once again this demonstrates how inept California's governing bodies are, and how little they value the people of this state.

For weeks, many of The Bee's readers has proposed alternative plans, in particular the building of desalinization plants along the coast. Yet any logical or alternative solution is ignored. Hopefully, someday the voters of California will wake up how dysfunctional, short sighted, and restrictive this state has become.
