Re "Kremlin linked to crash by U.S." (Page A1, July 19): Out one side of his mouth, President Barack Obama rightfully calls the downing of a Malaysian passenger plane an "outrage of unspeakable proportions." Out of the other side of his mouth, he condones the Israeli invasion of Gaza, a greater outrage of unspeakable proportions, except the victims are Palestinian civilians, now in nearly equal numbers.
The hypocrisy of this president, many in Congress and The Bee's editorial board is breathtaking. Our government feels no compunction about providing military, diplomatic and economic support to a state that regularly commits war crimes and violates U.N. resolutions aimed at bringing peace to the war-torn Middle East, while happily blaming myriad tragedies on others with no definitive evidence.
There's no question as to who's bombing whom in Gaza, but that won't move the president to make the one call that would stop it.
