Placer County sheriff’s detectives are looking for a man who attacked a woman at her north Auburn home early Tuesday.

The woman was outside her residence on Quartz Drive at 1:18 a.m. when she was approached by a white man in his late 20s or early 30s. He had a weapon and forced the woman into her apartment, where he physically assaulted her, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The man then went through her home and took items before leaving the area on foot.

The woman told detectives that the man had bad acne scars. He was described as about 5 feet 7 inches tall with dark eyes. His hair was not visible because he wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, which zipped up the front. He also wore blue jeans and black shoes. He reportedly had scruffy facial hair and strong body odor.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call Placer County Crime Stoppers at (800) 923-8191, or submit a tip online at Those contacting Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if the tip leads to an arrest.
