A trifecta of 101-degree days is underway in Sacramento.

Following Tuesday’s high of 101, Wednesday and Thursday are expected to hit the same mark, according to the National Weather Service Forecast.

While the heat continues here, a few isolated showers are expected in the northern San Joaquin Valley, Mother Lode and the Sierra. This is following lightning strikes generated by moisture and instability in those areas early Wednesday morning.

Despite daytime highs remaining in the low 100s to high 90s throughout the weekend, a slight cooling trend is beginning as high pressure shifts over Northern California and a Delta breeze is expected to continue to offer relief at night throughout the Sacramento area, with lows in the mid 60s.
