Construction to begin on Sacramento County apartments for low-income seniors

USA Properties Fund Inc., a Roseville-based developer of affordable housing, will host groundbreaking ceremonies in Sacramento County on Monday for a 60-unit apartment community for low-income seniors.

Festivities at the Arbor Creek Senior Apartments site start at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Elk Grove Florin and Calvine roads, just outside the Elk Grove city limits. Sacramento County Supervisors Jimmie Yee and Don Nottoli, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency Executive Director La Shelle Dozier and USA Properties President Geoff Brown are scheduled to attend.

The $14.1 million project is a collaboration of SHRA, USA Properties, Sacramento County, Riverside Charitable Corp. and U.S. Bank’s Community Lending Division.

The apartments are for seniors who earn 60 percent or less of the median income for Sacramento County. The community will have 48 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom apartments, scheduled to be completed late next spring. Numerous energy-efficient amenities will be incorporated. The development also will have a 1,700-square-foot community center with a computer area, fitness center and kitchen.

Monthly rents, which will vary based on income, will range from $545 to $609 for one-bedroom apartments and $653 to $730 for two-bedroom units. Officials will begin accepting applications in a few months. For details, see or call (916) 724-3939.
