Put garbage in trash, not down drain

•  Skip the garbage disposal.

This is another small change that can add up. Instead of putting food scraps down the garbage disposal, scrape them into the garbage can or (if plant based) the composting bin. A garbage disposal uses up to 4.5 gallons of water per minute. If you usually use the garbage disposal for two minutes a day, that adds up to nearly 3,300 gallons a year.
