Re "Bill would start first diaper aid" (Page A1, Aug. 2): I must really be out of touch with the current generation. Never in my generation would it occur to us to spend $100 million a year to buy disposable diapers and have the taxpayer foot the bill.
Of course Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzales makes it sound so easy to spend other people's money because it isn't her money. It sounds like she has never heard of cloth diapers that can be laundered and recycled, but perhaps that would be asking too much of mothers on welfare.
I apologize if this sounds demeaning, but to me it's breathtaking.
