Temperatures are expected to be mild Monday and Tuesday in Sacramento with daytime highs in the 70s and 80s.

The high today is predicted to come in at 79 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. There is even a chance that a few sprinkles could fall in Sacramento, spoiling weekend car washes.

The cause behind the monsoonal moisture and the cooler, cloudy conditions is a low pressure system moving northward into the area. Tonight’s slumber could be interrupted by the roll of thunder from storms after 11 p.m.

The weather returns to the usual later this week with clear skies and hot temperatures forecast from Wednesday through the weekend. The 7-day forecast for the Sacramento region from the NWS:

Monday: A slight chance of sprinkles after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Light south wind becoming south southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11pm. Cloudy, with a low around 64. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. South wind 6 to 9 mph becoming west in the morning.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Light southwest wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 67.
