Re "Diapers a waste of money" (Letters, Aug. 6): Robert McClung wonders if he is out of touch with the current generation. Perhaps. Whether or not taxpayers should foot the bill for diapers is up for debate, as is whether it's best to use cloth or disposable diapers.
Some things, however, are not up for debate: Babies need diapers. Be careful who you are punishing.
Secondly, babies have fathers. Thirdly, McClung apparently excuses fathers from diaper laundering duty. I don't know if that's a generational difference, or evidence of McClung's perception of women, especially those on welfare.
