Sunny skies this weekend will give way to a slight chance of thunderstorms on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
“Looks like it’s going to be a lovely weekend,” said Cindy Matthews, a forecaster with the weather service in Sacramento.
Saturday’s high temperature is expected to be 93 degrees, with winds picking up to 10 mph. Sacramento will also see clear skies Sunday, but Matthews said the crest of the Sierra Nevada might be in store for thunderstorms.
“Moisture and heat creates thunderstorms,” she said, adding that the Sacramento region will see a 20 percent chance of the storms and showers on Monday.
