A driver remained in critical condition at a Roseville hospital Sunday, a day after slamming into the wall during a race at All American Speedway in Roseville.

The driver, identified as Lisa Young, lost control of her car just before 7:45 p.m. Saturday, careening into the wall head-on at about 50 mph, said Roseville fire Capt. William Smith.

Track standby crews rushed to the scene, then called Roseville Fire Department rescuers who freed Young from the wreckage and took her to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Video of the wreck’s aftermath shows a swarm of raceway workers and firefighters surrounding the crumpled car on the track. In all, 11 firefighters were called to the raceway to tend to the injured driver, Smith said.

The crash happened during a memorial race for popular All American Speedway racer Matt Camp, who died in August 2013 in a boating accident at Bullards Bar Reservoir in Yuba County.
