Matt Yancey, who has served as the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s director of business and economic development for the past seven years, has been selected as the new CEO of the Davis Chamber of Commerce.
Yancey, who will assume his new duties Aug. 26, will replace Kemble Pope, who previously announced that he was stepping down after three years in the job.
In a statement announcing his appointment, Yancey said the “Davis community is, hands down, the most engaging I have encountered in my career.”
A graduate of California State University, Chico, Yancey has held numerous positions related to economic development, analysis and consulting.
Jennifer Nitzkowski, chairwoman of the Davis chamber board, said Yancey’s “keen awareness of the local and regional issues facing us today” was among the factors that enhanced his standing in the CEO search process.
Formed in 1905 by a handful of local businessmen, the Davis chamber now has 600 members.
