The Sacramento area and many parts of California saw significant double-digit drops in gas prices, according to the monthly AAA statewide gas price survey released Tuesday.
AAA said Sacramento’s average price of unleaded regular gas as of today was $3.84 a gallon, down 20 cents from the July 8 survey. That was below the statewide average of $3.91 a gallon, which plunged 23 cents in one month. The Northern California average came in at $3.93, down 18 cents since July.
The least-expensive average price in Northern California on Tuesday was in Marysville, at $3.72 per gallon.
“As we approach the end of summer travel, gas prices continue their downward trend,” said Cynthia Harris, AAA Northern California spokeswoman. “With ample supplies nationwide and with no immediate threat to the distribution of oil, Californians should continue to enjoy relatively lower prices at the pump.”
Not every Golden State jurisdiction was seeing lower prices. In Eureka, unleaded regular was selling for a still-lofty $4.24 a gallon. In Yreka, the average was $4.15 a gallon, despite a 10-cent month-to-month dip.
Nationally, unleaded regular was going for $3.47 a gallon, down 18 cents from July.
