Fairytale Town

Storied night in the park

What: A Family Campout means taking in some theater, scavenging for treasure, enjoying a bedtime story and then spending the night – all at the storybook park. A light continental breakfast will be served Saturday morning.

When: 5:30 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Saturday

Holler goes ‘Up Close’

What: Picture the stage of the Community Center Theater set with 10 grand pianos being played simultaneously. You’ve just pictured the eighth Suzuki Piano Basics International Ten Piano Concert, during which pianists of comparable ability perform one piece at a time. Pianists from around the world attend this showcase concert.

Jazz at the Crocker

Marcus Shelby and his quartet

What: Marcus Shelby uses jazz to narrate the history of African Americans, which you can see/hear for yourself in this month’s Jazz in the Courtyard concert with the composer, arranger, educator and bassist Shelby and his quartet. While at the museum, why not visit the exhibit “African American Art: Harlem Renaissance, Civil Rights Era, and Beyond”?

When: 6 p.m. concert; museum open until 9 p.m.
