Evening closures of the eastbound on- and off-ramps at the Highway 50-Watt Avenue interchange are scheduled Monday through Thursday.

The Sacramento County Department of Transportation advises motorists to be prepared for detours and to allow for additional travel time.

The closures will occur between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, with closure periods for each ramp lasting from two to four hours, according to a county news release. Once work on a specific ramp is completed, it will be reopened to traffic.

Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists through the project area. Officials said five- to 10-minute delays are possible during the detour periods.

Work during the closures will include roadway paving and striping, guardrail installation and completion of approach slabs.

Officials said the completed project will result in a reduction of overall delay through the interchange, easier and safer access on and off the freeway, dedicated transit facilities, and improved access and safety for bicyclists and pedestrians. The project is to be completed by October.
