Ask Sacto 911 crime Q&A: Were gunmen arrested in 1999 shooting death at Antelope apartment?

Published: Tuesday, Sep. 2, 2014 - 9:46 pm

Andres Martinez was killed in his apartment in Antelope about 15 to 20 years ago by, I believe, two men that were hiding in his apartment. Have they ever found the person/persons responsible?

No arrests have been reported in the July 1999 shooting death of 24-year-old Andres Martinez.

According to a story in The Sacramento Bee, gunmen burst into an apartment in the Deer Park Apartments in the 8300 block of Walerga Road shortly before 3 a.m. and shot Martinez at the entry to his bedroom.

Sheriff’s officials said at the time that they believed the attackers, whose faces were covered during the crime, specifically targeted Martinez.

No property was taken, and a woman who was with Martinez at the apartment when the gunmen kicked open his door was not injured.

A witness said he saw two large men rushing from Martinez’s second-story apartment after the shooting.
