Prostitution enforcement operations carried out by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department resulted in 48 arrests in August.

Deputies with the department’s north and south patrol Problem Oriented Policing teams conducted the operations in response to community complaints regarding illegal activity and acts of prostitution around the county, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.

POP officers in the south area conducted two separate prostitution operations along the Stockton Boulevard corridor, resulting in 29 arrests of individuals engaging in the act of prostitution, officials said.

In the north area, POP officers carried out an operation along the Watt Avenue corridor, which resulted in 19 arrests: eight for individuals loitering for prostitution, six for individuals engaging in the act of prostitution, and five for related crimes involving drugs, paraphernalia or outstanding warrants.

Sheriff’s officials said information from the community regarding illegal behavior is key to enforcement efforts that have lasting results. People are asked to report crimes in progress through the sheriff’s dispatch number, (916) 874-5115. Ongoing neighborhood issues can be reported to local POP officers, or by contacting patrol area commanders via
