Suemy Gonzalez returns to Sacramento with Trio Ellas

Published: Thursday, Sep. 4, 2014 - 12:00 am

Suemy Gonzalez earned a reputation as a virtuoso violinist on Sacramento’s mariachi circuit, playing with Mariachi Los Gallos and Mariachi Zacatecas as a teenager. Now 31, Gonzalez lives in Southern California with a Latin Grammy nomination and a recording session with Lady Gaga to her credit.

Gonzalez makes a Sacramento homecoming Sunday at the Celebration of Mexican Heritage and Mariachi at the Red Lion Woodlake Hotel. She’ll perform with Trio Ellas, an acclaimed all-female group with a repertoire that ranges from traditional Mexican favorites to interpretations of “Hotel California,” “Ticket to Ride” and other pop songs.
