A 439-acre controlled burn planned for Monday through Thursday will clear vegetation at Gray Lodge Wildlife Area.
According to information from California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection/Butte County Fire and the California Department of Fish and Game, weather and fuel conditions must meet prescribed-burn requirements before the fire can take place. In addition, atmospheric conditions must be right for smoke management.
The area is six miles west of Gridley. Smoke will be visible from Highways 99 and 70 in the southern Butte County area, the press release said.
