FRESNO Amber Frey, who was thrust into the national spotlight as the former girlfriend of convicted murderer Scott Peterson, has fallen behind on mortgage payments and may lose her Clovis home to foreclosure, according to Fresno County records.
Frey took out a $431,000 loan three years ago to buy the $539,000 house. But by May, she was more than $16,000 behind on her mortgage payments, according to records in the Fresno County Recorder's Office. A message left for Frey was not returned.
Frey, who dated Peterson in 2002, testified for the prosecution at his 2004 trial. Peterson was convicted of killing his pregnant wife, Laci, and her unborn fetus on Christmas Eve 2002 and now sits on death row in San Quentin.
