WOODLAND A gang member has been sentenced to 297 years to life in prison for his role in two drive-by shootings in Woodland in 2004.
Arnoldo Juarez, 29, was convicted in April of 11 counts of attempted murder and two counts of shooting at occupied dwellings, according to a news release.
Prosecutors said the shootings were done in retaliation for a 2001 injury. Juarez is a member of a Salinas-based gang, authorities said.
"Severe prison sentences such as this should send a strong deterrent message to violent gun-toting gang members," Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig said in the statement.
