From your time at Cal State Fullerton, what do you remember about your trips to UC Davis?

It was good. UC Davis had just gotten into our league (Big West Conference). They were good, but we used to beat up on them. But they beat us a couple times at their house. Coming up here, we used to stay in that nice little town they have. Nice restaurants over there to eat. We enjoyed ourselves. … Going to Pacific was a good trip for us, too, but they were beating on us until my senior year, and then we beat them a lot. Coming up here, it was nice. Then I also came up here in high school, too.

Better town: Davis or Stockton?

Davis. Davis is way better than Stockton.

How come?

There was more stuff to do. Plus, our hotel, we had a lot of restaurants and we could walk around. We had a movie theater. Stockton, we didn't have anything there.

What was it like going to Stockton?

It was all right. All we could really do was get ready to go to the game. I mean, they had a couple restaurants, but it wasn't like Davis.

Better game atmosphere: Davis or Stockton?

Stockton. UOP, it'd be packed every time we'd play them. The fans get into it. And a lot of the games we'd play would be on TV too, so it was a good rivalry for us.

When you would go to Davis, would you guys get into Sacramento much? Would you come across the causeway, or when you go to Davis, you stay in Davis?

You stay in Davis. We didn't get to come this way at all. When we went to Pacific, we passed through driving on the freeway going to the hotel, but we never came to the city of Sacramento.

What do you remember about the trips up here for the high school state championships (your junior and senior years at Westchester of Los Angeles)?

It was a long bus ride. It was like eight hours on that bus coming up here. We stayed at a hotel; I think it was off Del Paso. But all this stuff wasn't built up. All the restaurants and places around here weren't built up. It was pretty plain.

When you play here, do you think back to those high school times?

I do. All the time. Every time I play in here. The atmosphere. There were a lot of fans here because we played Oakland Tech, so they were a local favorite. The fans were into it; there was a lot of going up and down, scoring.

What do you remember most from those two games here in high school?

Just that last buzzer sound when we won. Everybody was running on the floor, taking pictures and holding up trophies and all that. That's what I remember.
