Witness Civil War "history" over Memorial Day weekend as battles are reenacted by hundreds of members of the American Civil War Association. The May 24-26 event in Felton also features encampments of Union and Confederate soldiers, regiments marching in review and rides on an authentic 1880s "iron horse." The third annual Ione Railfair and Vintage Motorfest on May 24-25 will feature rides in a large Skagit motorcar or on a handcar on the historic Amador Central Railroad as it winds its way up to the foothills. An informational meeting is set for 2 p.m. next Sunday to discuss details of an Oct. 2-15 trip to Greece planned by Vertical Horizons Travel of Folsom. The Towe Auto Museum is organizing a July 30-Aug. 6 trip to North Carolina, where scheduled sightseeing includes the Hendrick Motorsport Museum, North Carolina Transportation Museum, Backing Up Classics, Motorsports and Historical Automotive Museum and the Vanderbilt estate. The first Sutter Creek Festival of the Arts takes place Saturday on historic Main Street with more than 50 artists displaying and selling their work between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Live music, theatrical skits, dance and acrobatic acts also are on tap. Tickets are on sale for the Lake Tahoe Music Festival, a diverse season of performances under the stars.
