The UC Davis women's golf team won a three-team playoff Saturday at Lincoln Hills to earn a spot in next week's NCAA championship.
The Aggies beat Stanford and Ohio State to finish eighth after all three finished tied at 28-over-par 892 after 54 holes. USC won at 855, with Arizona State second (870).
Sydney Roughton of UCD tied for 13th with a 218, while Alice Kim tied for 30th at 222, Bryana Gregory and Chelsea Stelzmiller (229) tied for 69th, and Katie Sisler (231) tied for 78th.
The top-ranked UCLA women (32-0) beat UCD 11-4 in the NCAA semifinals in Stanford.
Courtney Mathewson and Tanya Gandy had three goals each for the Bruins. Laura Uribe, Mary Lowe, Emily Kitchens and Lindsay Kiyama scored for the Aggies (27-9).
UCD's Polly Gnepa set a school record in winning the men's 110-meter hurdles in 14.01 seconds at the Aggie Twilight Track and Field Open in Davis. Sirena Williams of UCD won the women's 100 hurdles in a school-record 13.93.
The UCD women's varsity eight beat out Sacramento State to win the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.
The Aggies won in 6 minutes, 34.01 seconds. The Hornets finished in 6:35.77, and Purdue came in third at 6:36.90.
Gabe Jacobo drove in seven runs as Sac State (21-29, 12-14 Western Athletic Conference) split a doubleheader with Nevada (30-20, 17-10) in Reno, losing the first game 6-5 and winning the nightcap 13-4. Jacobo drove in six in the second game, three coming on his 13th home run of the season.
Kyle Mihaylo had three hits and drove in two as UCD (30-18 overall, 10-7 Big West Conference) beat host UC Riverside (17-27, 11-7) 6-5.
