Sacramento State shone Saturday in the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, with the women winning the school's first title in the meet and the men finishing second at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.

The Sac State women, who racked up 166.50 points to runner-up Northern Arizona's 121, helped themselves with four wins Saturday. Senior Tyreina Henley-Henderson took the 200 meters in 24.26 seconds and, with freshmen Victoria Humphrey and Alicia Truesdale and sophomore Ericka Violett, claimed the 4x100 relay in 46.37.

Truesdale clocked in at 14.23 for a victory in the 100 hurdles, and Hornets junior Morinsola Keshinro won the 400 hurdles in 1 minute, 0.44 seconds.

Also, two women set Sac State records. Senior Ashley Ast threw the javelin 158 feet, 10 inches to finish second. Sophomore Lizzy Norvell went 12-7 1/2 in the pole vault, tying Kasie Scott of Idaho State for the top mark. Scott, however, placed first on jumps.

On the men's side, Sac State lost to Northern Arizona 166-160 for the team title. The Hornets' Jody Johnson repeated as the 100 and 200 champion, and fellow senior Jeffrey Paneda was victorious in the 800. Freshman Ronald Brookins and junior A.J. Reed finished 1-2 in the 110 hurdles.

Sophomore Emilio Hernandez, who won the high jump Friday and took third in the triple jump Saturday, was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Meet.

• The UC Davis men's and women's teams each finished seventh in the Big West Conference Track and Field Championships in Northridge. The Long Beach State men and Cal State Northridge women won the team titles.

• Sacramento City College's Neelon Greenwood (men's triple jump), American River College's Jason Engler (men's 3,000 steeplechase) and the ARC men's 4x400 relay team won state titles in the California Community College Athletic Association Track and Field Championships in Norwalk.
