  • SOME TIPS TO LAND THAT CAMP JOB

Hey teens and college students – want to work at a camp this summer? Here are some things to ponder before starting your job search.

What kind of camp do you want to work at – day or residential? Most camps require their counselors to be available for the entire summer, so make sure you don't already have family reunions or trips booked.

What types of skills do you have? Are you a computer whiz? Try a computer day camp. What if you are an outdoors expert? Apply to camps that match your interests.

Why do you want to work at a camp? Keep in mind, the average college-age counselor gets around $272 a week.

A lot of residential camps can't hire employees who are under 18, but there are tons of jobs through local organizations that pay. Check out the YMCA and other youth clubs.

Each camp has different requirements, so do your research. Most camps, even indoor camps, have some type of outdoor element.
