Leaders of the Western Placer Unified School District have agreed with most findings of a Placer County grand jury that the district erred in past practices and management of new school construction.
The Lincoln-based district on Tuesday presented a draft response to the grand jury report that said jurors' investigation was "an important reality check for our school district."
However, it challenged a statement that their community is disillusioned when it comes to public schools.
Superintendent Scott Leaman and board president Paul Carras helped draft a requested response to 11 of 15 grand jury recommendations. The community has until Friday to submit comments to the district before the response is finalized, Carras said.
The Placer County grand jury in June issued its annual report to the community, which reviewed and investigated complaints about several government agencies. Thirteen complaints concerning Western Placer were investigated - including facilities financing, construction practices, the Education Foundation and land deals.
The district said during the investigation it took several corrective actions.
