Focus. Begin slow, abdominal breathing and pledge: "I can resist the allure of the computer, TV, iPod and other electronic toys for one night."

The National Wildlife Federation hopes you can break your high-tech addiction long enough to participate June 28 in the Great American Backyard Campout.

The idea is to rescue youngsters from "nature deficit disorder" by getting them outdoors where the crickets and mosquitoes roam. Children, according to research, average 44 hours a week in front of electronic screens.

A backyard campout is fun for adults, too.
